You will need to be an administrator of Actionstep and NetDocuments Repository Administrator to perform these steps




Step 1


Change the client inside of the Actionstep Matter


Step 2


Now unlink the matter from the Actionstep NetDocuments Mapping Table on the ADMIN > INTEGRATIONS > NETDOCUMENTS MAPPING TABLE


Step 3


Go back to the matter and push the updated matter across, note that this will create a blank matter with your new client with the same matter number in NetDocuments


Step 4


Do you have any documents stored in the 'Matter' for which you need to change?


    YES - we do have existing documents stored in the matter (for Step 4 only)


Go to NetDocuments  and make sure you are on the home screen of netdocuments, if you are not sure, simply click on the NetDocuments (or yours) logo in the top left hand corner.


Perform a search on the matter using the 'Advanced Search' function within NetDocuemnts by clicking on the three dots in the search bar at the top of the screen

Within the search form look up the incorrect client Name  and then choose the matter number


Perform the search.


Now that you have all the documents you will need to click on name 'SEARCH RESULTS' and click on 'EDIT PROFILES'




Change the client to be the correct Client Name and ID,  Change the matter to be the correct Matter number (if required)

Do not change the document type otherwise you will update all those documents in your search to be re profiled as the new document which you will not want.


Note that any 'Profile Attributes' you leave blank will not be altered and will retain the existing values.






Once you receive the email  from NetDocuments to confirm that the profiles have been updates,then go to the Matter that has the incorrect Client and you will notice that there are no documents no withiin that matter. 


Now go to the matter that has the correct client and you will notice that all the documents are now available under this matter that has the correct client .


If all correct to you requirements, then you will need to delete the matter in NetDocuments that has the incorrect client attached to avoid confusion by users. To do this 

  1. go to ADMIN Repository Page of NetDocuments, 
  2. click on Profile Attributes,
  3. Click on Matters then click edit
  4. locate the matter with the incorrect client and highlight it
  5. click on 'delete selected' matters that appears in blue text in the top left side of the page.


You have now completed the tasks involved


    No - we dont have any documents stored in the matter yet. (for Step 4 only)



You only need to follow these steps if you dont have any document stored on the matter that has the incorrect client.


  1. go to ADMIN Repository Page of NetDocuments, 
  2. click on Profile Attributes,
  3. Click on Matters then click edit
  4. locate the matter with the incorrect client and highlight it
  5. click on 'delete selected' matters that appears in blue text in the top left side of the page.



You have now completed the tasks involved
